This is definitely a rare find and a unique piece of European folk art. This girl dates to the late 1800's and was found in Austria. I call her "Heidi" as she comes from the Alps and is wearing a traditional girl's outfit. Her body is carved out of a single piece of wood, while her arms were carved separately and then attached. She does have a small hole on the top of he head (it may have been used to hold a hat or something else) and there's a crack going down both the front and her backside. Overall she's quite sturdy and in good condition. The flowers in the picture are not original, but she was holding something in her right hand.
